Juventus Extend Serie A Lead

Juventus' superb second-half display ensured they came away from their match with Bologna with all 3 points, moving them 12 clear at the top.

After a slow start and a goalless first period, Vucinic's goal made the rest of the match easy for the Old Lady and it got better when Marchisio doubled their advantage.

The aim for Juve was always a victory and they started off brightly, while Bologna played patiently and on the break, getting the games first chance when Buffon charged off his line to dispossess Gilardino, with the ball falling to Diamanti with the goal at his mercy. Only a timely intervention from Chiellini saved Juventus from going behind.

Giovinco took the ball from Peluso and executed a brilliant nutmeg to go one on one with the keeper but a poor shot meant a comfortable save. Seconds later, Vidal wasted a great opportunity as he blazed a shot over the bar.

Juventus dominated but chances were few and far between as Bologna defended resiliently in numbers.  They sat back in their own half and their plan was effective, with the sides going in at the interval tied.

Juventus returned in the second half determined to score. Giovinco curled an effort just wide but Bologna weren't out of it yet. Gilardino thought he had opened the scoring when he headed home a free-kick but his celebration were cut short by the linesman flag.

Giovinco forced a good save from Curci and Juventus took the lead shortly after. Vucinic brilliantly turned Naldo and past Curci, unleashing a powerful shot to give the away side the lead.

After that goal, it was clear the points were going to the league leaders. 17 minutes from time they assured that they points were indeed in their hands, with Marchisio finishing off a superb Juventus passing move with a cool finish into the net.

The victory put Juventus a resounding 12 points clear at the top of the table but second-place Napoli can reduce the deficit to 9 if they beat Atalanta tomorrow.
