Manchester City advanced to the semi-finals of the FA Cup after a brilliant performance against Championship outfit Barnsley.
A hat-trick from Carlos Tevez added to goals from Kolarov and Silva was enough to dispatch the Yorkshire side who could never get a foothold in the game.
City struck an early goal against Leeds in the previous round and did the same again, with Tevez finding the net after just 10 minutes.
Yaya Toure flicked the ball over the top to David Silva, who's effort was pushed onto the post by Steele. However the rebound fell kindly to Tevez who slotted the ball away to give the home side an early advantage.
With City yet to concede in the FA Cup, the game already began to look bleak for Barnsley.
Tevez headed over the bar minutes later and City soon had their second of the game.
Carlos Tevez turned to creator as he surged down the right wind and delivered an inch-perfect low cross into the path of Kolarov, who struck a driven shot into the corner of the net for his 4th goal of the season.
With City now in complete control and dominating possession, it was only a matter of time before the struck again.
The final goal of the half came on the half hour mark after great team play from the home side, with the move ending as David Silva found Tevez 8-yards out, the Argentine cooly slotting beneath Steele for his second of the day.
The second half started in similar fashion and just 4 minutes into the second period Tevez grabbed his hat-trick after Nasri played the ball across to him, leaving it on a plate.
Barnsley managed to create chances of their own, forcing two decent saves from Costel Pantilimon.
However, there was to be no consolation goal for the away side and 25 minutes from time City heaped more misery upon them.
Tevez was the creator once again, ensuring he played a part in all of City's 5 goals on the day. His cross found David Silva who scored on his second attempt after his initial effort was saved by Steele.
Carlos Tevez was replaced by James Milner for the final 15 minutes of play and the substitute almost added his name to the scoresheet when he unleashed a ferocious shot which cannoned back off the post.
City will now have to wait until tomorrow's FA Cup draw to discover who they will face at Wembley, with a Manchester derby on the cards if Sir Alex's side can see off Chelsea tomorrow.
City will have fond memories of their last FA Cup clash against United, where a Yaya Toure goal sent the Citizens into the final where they won their first piece of silverware for 35 years.
