PSG Missing Key Men For Valencia Trip

Ligue 1 leaders Paris Saint Germain will be without Thiago Motta and Thiago Silva for the first leg of their last-16 tie against Valencia in the Champions League on Tuesday night, whilst new signing David Beckham hasn't made Carlo Ancelotti's squad.

Despite a return to training last week for Motta, the midfielder has not been deemed fit enough to even take a place among the substitutes for the trip to Spain. Summer signing Thiago Silva, meanwhile, is in a race against time to be fit for the second leg in Paris next month as he battles with a thigh problem.

Mamadou Sakho is expected to continue to fill in for Silva in the back four despite the birth of his daughter on Monday.

David Beckham has travelled to Spain with the squad but has not been named in the 18, meaning that a place in the stands is likely for the former England captain as he continues to work on his fitness for the title run-in.

Valencia were able to rest key players including Victor Ruiz and Diego Alves at the weekend, and manager Ernesto Valverde says that his side go into the game on the back of 'a good spell' and with 'good morale'.

PSG boss Ancelotti is wary of his Spanish opponents, warning his side that they face 'a very good team' at the Mestalla.

The French side have been made favourites for the tie with most bookmakers, no doubt the presence of Swedish superstar Zlatan Ibrahimovic a key factor.
