Rovers Sign Two Ahead Of FA Cup Weekend

Blackburn Rovers have completed the loan signings of David Bentley from Spurs and Karim Rekik from Manchester City, with both players eligible to feature for the Lancashire club for tomorrow's trip to Emirates Stadium to face Arsenal in the fifth round of the FA Cup.

Bentley signed for Spurs for an absolutely hilarious fee of £15m in the summer of 2008 but failed to establish himself in the first team on a regular basis and has since been loaned out to Birmingham City, West Ham and even turned out for Russian side FC Rostov. The best form of his career came at Ewood Park between 2005 and 2008 and he'll be hoping to emulate his fluke wondergoal from the 4-4 draw in the North London Derby in 2008 when he returns to Islington tomorrow.

Manager Michael Appleton also welcomed Karim Rekik with open arms, saying:

"He's going to be a Premier League player for the next 15 or 20 years - I feel lucky that we've got him."

Bold words.
