Since being taken over by Indian chicken farmers Venky's, the Lancashire club have become somewhat of a comedy club having seen themselves relegated from the top flight under the managerial reign of Steve Kean before their latest manager Michael Appleton was sacked after just 67 days.
Sam Allardyce and Henning Berg have also had permanent positions in the dugout cut short by the ruthless owners.
The sacking of Appleton has been widely condemned as the latest in a series of shambolic events at Rovers, which makes you wonder why on earth a relatively well respected and high profile coach in Benitez would go near the place.
Nevertheless it is being reported that Rovers bigwigs are willing to pay up to £50,000 a week to whoever their new manager may be, so perhaps the temptation of a nice wage packet will be enough to attract someone to what is fast becoming a job with less stability than the economy of Cyprus.
